Working to Improve the Industry

DSC 0005

A large part of improving the home healthcare experience for clients and employees alike is doing everything we can to make the industry better as a whole. We make it a priority to partner with legislators and other organizations to work towards continual improvement.

This week, our Founder and CEO, Amy Nelson and Director of Home Care Nursing, Megan White met with Representative Matt Dean at a client’s home to discuss what in-home healthcare means for families like theirs.

Kari, the mother of our client, Danna, talked about how much it means to have nurses who know exactly what her daughter needs. “We’re so fortunate to have nurses like DeAnn, who has been with us for a long time and knows Danna. I don’t have anything against hospital nurses, but anytime we’re there, we rush home to our nurses who know everything about Danna’s care.”

2016 MN Legislative Session

The 2016 MN Legislative session starts on March 8th. This short session is an important opportunity to push for a much needed 5% rate increase for Home and Community-Based Services. Rates need to be improved so providers of these services can remain competitive to attract and retain staff to care for more than 90,000 Minnesotans who already receive services in their homes and communities. The following are some details of the need for this increase:

• A 5% increase for Home & Community-Based Services in 2016 is critical to ensure that quality services for 108,000 people with disabilities and older adults in Minnesota remain available, stable, and sustainable.

• Best Life Alliance supporters are leading reforms that promote choice, independence and individualized options for people with disabilities and older adults, including Minnesota’s Olmstead Plan. Achieving these reforms requires a skilled caregiver/Direct Support Professional workforce.

Accurate and Around Town TV

We recently worked with Around Town TV to put together a new company video which includes a compilation of current office and field employees discussing Accurate Home Care. In addition to company details, staff talked about what sets Accurate apart from the industry standard, and some of their favorite things about the company.

We hope this video will be a helpful resource for those who are looking into Accurate Home Care specifically and the home care industry in general. Please click here to watch our new video, and share it with anyone you know who might be looking for home care services.
